AKBAR
Fri.-Sat.: A blurb taken from their web
site: We believe in the power of rock and roll. We love guitars.
We abhor homophobia. And hetero-phobia. We enjoy a cold beer. We cannot
abide a mean drunk. We don’t get organized religion. We like disco. We
despise racism. We cannot respect disrespectful behavior. We do not
condone “velvet ropes.” We do not care who is a celebrity and who is not.
We love our friends. We can be silly. We do not understand gay
Republicans. We wing it. 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 21 |

Area-It might look the same
on the outside, but the space formerly known as Prey has a new
safari-inspired look on the inside. The people who transformed the Coconut
Teaszer from a struggling hair-metal hang into the swanky, star-studded
club Privilege clearly know what they're doing. Guided by the same hands,
Area is decidedly more seductive and slick than its previous incarnation.
It's an all-too-perfect backdrop for sexy, scantily-dressed gals, moneyed
dudes and top promoters. It's popular with celebs, so expect wardrobe
malfunctions. |

Bar 1200 at the Sunset Marquis
Bar 1200 is an upscale and intimate space—according to their
website, the bar can legally hold "45 normal people or 150
supermodels"—where gorgeous people meet for drinks. Tucked inside the
infamous Sunset Marquis hotel, the cozy little bar caters to rock star
guests and their VIP friends. Hotel guests get automatic access to Bar
1200 and, oddly, buying a room just for bar access could still end up more
cost-effective than bottle service alone elsewhere in the city.

Bar Marmont Incorporated
Infamous
hotel-Lounge-In Short
The Chateau's decor is exquisite, with a bar bathed in red light, tables
nestled beneath white lamps and pseudo monarch butterflies meticulously
applied to the ceiling. A stuffed peacock is perched in a corner of the
room, bearing witness to thousands of legendary meetings and Hollywood
icons at play. Just as the neighboring Chateau Marmont hotel attracts some
of the nation's best-known stars, Bar Marmont draws a top-shelf crowd.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Lindsay Lohan have all spent evenings
here.

Bar One
Tucked away in a kosher neighborhood lives North
Hollywood’s best-kept secret, Bar One. The bar places just as much
emphasis on entertainment as it does on imported beers and classy wines.
Bar One also features weekly events like “Hitsville L.A.,” when music
ranges from indie rock to Britpop, and underground hip-hop nights with
performances by the links of Soul Children. The narrow venue is equipped
with a long bar, flat screen TVs and a smoking patio.

reflection at the back of the bar. Others writhe overhead above the
teaming dance floor.

Beauty Bar -Double
doors lead a steady stream of club-goers inside and onto the checkered
dance floor of this 1960s beauty parlor, where henna tattoos and manicures
are the only pampering services offered. Beers and cocktails flow at the
bar while a friendly and unpretentious crowd lounges around hair dryer
chairs, antique salon mirrors, a photo booth, jukebox and plastic-covered
sofa. Resident DJs enter at 10pm and play '80s hits, rock-and-roll and pop
grooves the rest of the night for a vibe that's gritty, yet accessible and
cute. |
